(1. сторонники направления, отколовшегося после 1-го Ватиканского собора 1870 ( the Vatican Council of 1870) от Римско-католической церкви; раскол возглавил профессор Мюнхенского университета теолог И. Деллингер ( Döllinger); раскол был вдохновлён Бисмарком с целью создания из германских католиков государственной церкви подобно евангелической (лютеранской) церкви; старокатолики отрицают догмат о непогрешимости папы, филиокве, догмат о непорочном зачатии Девы Марии, отменили целибат; в наст. время старокатолики имеются в ФРГ, Швейцарии, Голландии, Франции, США и др. странах; в 1889 старокатолики объединились с Утрехтской церковью ( the Church of Utrecht); 2. названия небольших церк. групп среди поляков в США и хорватов под названием Национальная церковь Польши ( the National Polish Church) и Югославская старокатолическая церковь ( the Yugoslav Old Catholic Church)) the Old Catholics, ( в Швейцарии) немец.
